Brain Fitness And Optimal Thought

We are all aware of the importance to exercise our bodies and keep it fit. Many people run, work out in gyms or at least try to stick with a healthy diet. Well we also need to apply the same care and diligence in exercising our minds. Yes we want to keep our bodies fit but we also need to achieve good brain fitness as well. Here are some helpful details and reasons why.

The body is made up of many organs and keeping the body fit helps to keep these essential organs like our lungs, heart, kidneys, etc. fit as well. The same holds true for our minds. It needs exercise and other good fitness activities to stay alert and function in an optimum manner.

So the first thing to do is to make sure that you feed your mind properly. What this means is that it is important to eat well and take in the proper nutrients. Your brain needs certain kinds of essential nutrients like vitamin C, E, D, and B complex. A deficiency in these vitamins can significantly impact how the brain functions.

So eat plenty of vegetables, lean meat and wholesome grains. Definitely avoid things like caffeine and alcohol. And drink plenty of water. It helps to flush the cells of contaminants and other impurities. In addition to essentials vitamins and minerals, the cells need strong antioxidants to remain healthy and viable.

And keeping your body exercised does indeed help with brain fitness. For example if you run and increase your heart rate and breathing, more blood and oxygen will get pumped to your brain. The brain needs oxygen and essential nutrients and the blood is the delivery vehicle. You also need to take care of the blood vessels. Eat healthy and exercise to help avoid buildup in the vessels which can constrict blood flow.

And while we know that exercising our bodies is an essential part of improving our fitness, the same holds true with the brain. It needs exercise. There are ways to exercise the brain. They involve the use of tasks and other tools which stimulate our brains to operate and think in certain manners and be an effective memory exercise.

The more we do this and the more we challenge our brains, the better it is for them. New and stronger neural networks can be formed and it can certainly improve the manner in which information flows in and out of the brain.
